Meet Sherman! Sherman arrived in Virginia on March 29, after being rescued from a neglectful situation in Puerto Rico. The two had lived with a woman who was later placed into a nursing home, and unfortunately, they had very little human interaction during that time.

Sherman is as handsome as they come—but don’t let those good looks fool you. He’s also one of our most challenging placements. People tend to fall for his sweet face and overlook the reality: Sherman needs patience, understanding, and time to build trust.
He’s come a long way with his amazing foster, learning that people can be part of his pack. He’s even unlocked
snuggle mode
! With the help of his foster’s dogs, Sherman is starting to relax and enjoy family life.
That said, Sherman still struggles with men and doesn’t do well being crated all day while his people are at work. His ideal home? A retired single woman with another dog who can help him feel safe and supported.
Sherman is making real progress, and with the right person, he’ll thrive. If you have a gentle home and a dog who needs a buddy, Sherman just might be the perfect match.
